CAREER – JOB DESCRIPTIONS
WITHIN PRODUCTION, TECHNICIANS AND CREW
The below list will provide many titles of those involved in stage, theatre, tv and film production. Most of these jobs are identified and taught in Drama – Film, and Technical Schools , however, by close examination you may find that many specialty areas can be immediately accessed based on your training, experience and Resume.
The best approach is to try to make yourself and your particular talent known. You may find that someone of your experience/talent is both needed and sought after. If you are not sure what job the title encompasses, such as ‘best boy' or ‘boon operator' please look it up in ‘Terminology' listed under ‘Preparation'. Another example is ‘Technical Advisor'. Let us say that you are a specialist in a specific area such as costumes of the 13 th Century. Or, perhaps you have a specific talent for making miniatures. Your specific talent/experience may be required even though you are not a graduate of any Drama-Film School .
If this is your interest you should look into becoming Pro-Active to make your identity known to the appropriate people in the industry and you should contact the union and guild best representing your talent.
The list below is provided as an aid. If you feel a particular title may suit you please look up the job description in the file identified as “Terminology”.
